✈️ Where Can My Points Take Me?

Enter your points and travellers to see which reward-seat destinations you can afford with Qantas Frequent Flyer Points or Velocity Frequent Flyer Points.

✨ What is a reward seat — and why hunt for one?

A reward seat (Qantas calls them Classic Flight Rewards, Virgin Australia calls them Velocity Reward Seats) is a seat the airline sets aside to be paid for with your frequent flyer points instead of money. You pay the points price plus a small cash amount for taxes and fees — usually a fraction of the normal fare.

Why they're the best use of your points: reward seats are priced from a fixed table based on distance, no matter what the cash fare is doing. Every other way of spending points on flights (like "Points + Pay") converts your points at a much weaker rate. A points balance that would only shave a couple of hundred dollars off a paid fare can cover an entire business class seat to Europe as a reward seat — often three to four times the value per point.

The catch is that airlines only release a handful of reward seats per flight, and popular routes and school holidays disappear fast. That's why it pays to know what your points can afford, book early (seats are released around 10–12 months ahead), and stay flexible on dates. This tool shows you what's within reach — then use the links on each destination to find live availability, or try seats.aero ↗, a search tool built specifically for finding dates with reward seats available (that's Lauren's affiliate link).

🔎 Check a real price you found

Velocity economy prices vary with demand — when you search a flight on the Virgin Australia (or Qantas) website, type the points price it shows you here to check it against your balance.
